Crochet Easter Eggs Pattern
Updated: Mar 30
I saw a TikTok not that long ago where a woman was sewing these adorable little reusable Easter eggs with pouches on the back. I loved the idea and wanted to make my own crochet version!
During any free time I had these last few days, I've been crocheting these cute little eggs in four fun colors. I made 20 total, four for each of my friend's five kids. They turned out even better than I could have imagined.
These delightful little pouched eggs work up very fast with worsted-weight yarn and a 5.00 mm hook. To make these even quicker I worked all the front sides at once, then all the back sides. Then, I weaved in all of the strands of yarn and finally, crocheted them together. That may sound like a lot of work, but I promise it's really not (unless you plan on doing them all in one day! 😅)
These eggs are 3.5" x 2.75" when completed.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight yarn (Size 4/ Medium yarn)
Size 5.00 mm hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitches & Abbreviations Used
ch - chain stitch
sc - single crochet stitch
sc2tog - single crochet 2 stitches together
slst - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(es)
Pattern Notes
This pattern is worked in two parts (front and back) and then joined together around the edge using the sc stitch. Each part is worked in rows with a ch 1 at the end of each row, which does not count as a stitch in this pattern.
At the end of each row in parenthesis is the number of stitches you should have in that row.
2sc = work 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch
sc 2 = work 1 single crochet stitch into the next 2 stitches
2sc 2 = work 2 single crochet stitches into the same stitch for the next 2 stitches
Finished size: 3.5" x 2.75"
Gauge: 4 sc = 1 inch
*You may have to adjust your hook size to match my gauge for your eggs to match my finished size perfectly.

Back Side:
ch 3
Row 1) 2sc 2, ch 1, turn (4)
Row 2) 2sc, sc 2, 2sc, ch 1, turn (6)
Row 3) 2sc, sc 4, 2 sc, ch 1, turn (8)
Rows 4-8) sc 8 (8)
Trim your yarn and leave about 4-6 inches for weaving ends. Weave in all ends on your back side. Continue below for instructions on finishing your eggs.

To finish your eggs, place the two sides together, and with the front side facing you, reattach yarn with a slst through both sides, ch 1, then sc around the egg. Please make sure you are single crocheting as evenly as possible and that you are working through both the front and back to securely attach them.
Hot Tip: I like to start at the very bottom of the egg and work my way up the right side. To give your egg an “eggier” shape you can 2sc in the very top.
Once you reach the end, slst into the first sc (or you can join with an invisible stitch if you prefer). Trim your yarn and weave in all ends.
